Traumatic Brain Injury
It can be difficult to know when a concussion is the reason why thinking, emotions, or behavior seem different even months after an injury. Evaluation by Dr. Bercaw can help determine if there are persisting effects due to brain injury of if there are other factors maintaining postconcussive symptoms that may require treatment. In cases of complicated mild TBI or moderate-to-severe brain injuries, it is important to evaluate the extent of recovery, have serial assessment, address needs for rehabilitation, and identify any ongoing barriers to returning to activities such as driving or employment. A proper evaluation is essential for documenting the extent of disability and long-term care needs.
